Georgie Mae's Antiques & Collectibles is locally-owned and operated and proud to be part of the Culpeper community since 2007. From the start, we’ve tried hard to provide quality products at reasonable prices. Other dealers may offer similar items, but we hope our service and personal touch, in a pleasant & relaxing shopping atmosphere will help us earn your customer loyalty.
It is said "collecting" is a passion... a romance of sorts. A passion for treasures from eras past compelled me to open an antiques and collectibles business. I made a decision to pursue a dream... to follow a passion. A venue for preserving unforgettable time periods, my hope is to offer an eclectic blend of treasures that appeal to every person and personality. Knowing that collecting is a passion, Georgie Mae's has something for you.
Over the years my wife, Jan, and I have grown to appreciate the quality, value, and uniqueness of fine antiques and other vintage pieces. For Jan it actually goes back to her childhood as she watched her late uncle build a very successful antique business in Northern Virginia. For me it started with an interest in woodworking. I was fascinated with the skill and craftsmanship required to shape and join wood, and the techniques used to apply a beautiful finish, resulting in great looking, one of a kind, handmade pieces. Taking an early retirement, I set up a woodworking shop doing cabinetry, furniture, and other custom pieces. Jan, a career educator as a classroom teacher and Library Media Specialist, and I started adding antiques to supplement my woodworking. We found we both enjoyed the hunt (auctions, estate sales, etc.) and the satisfaction of being able to offer unique items at very reasonable prices to a growing customer base that shares the same appreciation. We often ask ourselves why anyone would ever buy china, glassware, pottery, or furniture new when such high quality vintage and antique pieces having so much more character are available for a lot, lot, less.
In the meantime, as customers and frequent visitors to Georgie Mae’s, we got to know Norma Jean Early. One thing lead to another, the timing was right, and we are now proud to partner with her as part of the Georgie Mae’s team.
